Acting 101 with Irina Zaurov (max 20 students)
“Acting 101” class for youth ages 9-15 introduces fundamental acting skills to foster confidence and communication abilities through engaging activities. Students learn basic stage presence, voice projection, and characterization, often exploring improvisation and script work. The goal is to help children develop a love for performance, boost their self-esteem, and build valuable skills applicable to various aspects of life. This class is meant for youth with no or limited stage experience who wish to build more stage confidence. Five weeks meeting Monday and Wednesday from 5pm-6:15 beginning Feb. 9th through March 18th 2026. (no class Feb. 16-18th) Classes will be at Epworth United Methodist Church.

Advanced Acting with Irina Zaurov (max. 20 students)
“Advanced Acting” class for youth ages 9-18. If you want to act, you will need to audition for a show. Auditioning can be nerve racking, but they can also be creative treasures if you have the tools and confidence to make them so. In this class we will work on monologues, sides and cold reads while learning tips and techniques that will allow you to shine. Students who have previously taken classes, have been in other productions or summer camp with Ms. Irina or other directors (please check for approval) are welcome to take this class. Five weeks 2x each week. Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 pm-7:45pm beginning Feb. 9th through March 18th 2026. (no class Feb. 16-18th) Classes will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church.

The Youth Theater program of Sylvania Arts celebrates its 20th anniversary milestone with its first-ever full-length musical production, "Shrek The Musical," featuring 70 talented young performers from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. This landmark production showcases the program's two-decade legacy of nurturing young theatrical talent in the community.
The musical will be performed at the prestigious Franciscan Center on the campus of Lourdes University, with evening shows on March 7 and 8 at 7:00 PM, and a matinee performance on March 9 at 2:00 PM.
"Shrek The Musical" brings together young performers ranging from 8 to 17 years old, representing the diverse talent pool across the region. This production marks a significant achievement for the Youth Theater program as it expands its repertoire to include full-length musical theater productions in its milestone 20th year.
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, "Shrek The Musical" is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure that brings all the beloved characters from the film to life on stage. The story follows an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess.
