The Sylvania Community Band has partnered with Sylvania Arts in the spirit of bringing music to the greater Sylvania community.

We will be playing a variety of music that includes patriotic favorites:

  • On the Mall

    Paid parking is available on campus, limited Free parking on Bancroft and in Old Orchard area

The Sylvania Community Band is under the direction of Jason Stumbo, PhD

Dr. Jason Stumbo is the Chair of the Department of Music at The University of Toledo. He is also Director of Bands at UToledo, where he conducts the University Wind Ensemble and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in conducting, history, and music education.

Dr. Stumbo received a B.S. in Music Education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He then spent several years teaching in the Tennessee public schools before returning to the University of Tennessee for the MM in Conducting. He continued his studies at the University of Missouri, receiving the PhD in Music Education in 2004.

Prior to his appointment at UToledo, Dr. Stumbo served as the associate director of bands at the University of Missouri, where he directed the 280-member Marching Mizzou, was conductor of the university Symphonic Band, and taught courses in basic conducting, wind repertoire, and music education. Dr. Stumbo is an active adjudicator, clinician, and conductor, who has presented clinics and conducted ensembles in the U.S., Canada and Australia.

 

The Doermann Theater is locate on the campus of the University of Toledo in University Hall.
