Oak Openings River Trail Mural

The newest installation in our public art collection is a true collaboration of the community. Sister Jane Mary and her team created the tile design that represents the Oak Openings region and it’s many plants and animals. The SCAC could not have accomplished this project without the generosity of the “Cornerstone” level sponsors: the Stansley family, the Downtown Sylvania Association (DSA), Flower Hospital, Lourdes University and Reeb Funeral Home. We’d also like to thank the “Community” level sponsors, The Sylvania Rotary and the Sylvania CIC. Many individuals have graciously purchased bricks which will surround the the mural too- and let’s not forget about the members of the SCAC, Chamber and DSA who volunteered their time to coordinate this latest Arts Commission Public Art Project. We thank you all!

Maplewood Marketplace Mural

This mural was commissioned by artist Dani Fuller in an effort to bring more public art to the Sylvania community and celebrate the Spirit of Sylvania. Fuller focused on the history and roots of Sylvania in her design that includes imagery of the railroad, Lathrop House, Sam Abell, Jamie Farr and more all connected through beautiful trees. Take a stroll through the historical village to view the large mural on the back of Maplewood Marketplace.

Watch the video below for a behind-the-scenes look at creating the mural.
